Při párové terapii se snažíme vyléčit “VZTAH”, tzn. to, co dva lidi spolu propojuje. Co je propojovalo dříve a najít postupně důvod proč už to tak necítí teď. Nevěnujeme se traumatům jednotlivců do hloubky jako v individuální terapii,
Při rodinné terapii hledáme nejčastěji skryté konflikty, které mohou mít souvislost s problémy jedince.
Často se ukáže, že jeden nebo více členů by potřeboval individuální terapii, tak se potom domlouváme jak budeme dál pokračovat. Popřípadě také použijeme homeopatický lék, pokud je potřeba a prospěje celému procesu.
Frekvence potkávání je nejčastěji jednou za dva až tři týdny a počet setkání je individuální. U párových terapií průměrně 20-30x, u rodinných nejčastěji do 10 setkání.
Psychoanalýza se uplatnila nejen jako léčebná metoda, v různých souvislostech je využívána v umění, sociologii, filosofii, filmové vědě, atd.. Určujícím způsobem pomáhá porozumět kulturním jevům – např. fungování skupin lidí, procesům odehrávajícím se v institucích, a v širších souvislostech takovým sociálně-kulturním jevům jakými jsou vztahovačnost a rasismus.
Jako metoda psychologické pomoci je psychoanalýza založena na teorii významu raného vztahu dítěte s rodiči a na raných dětských prožitcích lásky, ztráty, sexuality a smrti. Tyto zážitky jsou základem, na němž vyrůstají výše zmíněná schémata, ovlivňující další psychologické fungování člověka. Jsou i zdrojem konfliktů, které mohou psychický vývoj člověka omezovat. V psychoanalýze se tyto nevědomé obsahy postupně zpracovávají a pacient více rozumí svým pohnutkám, konfliktům – zkrátka tomu co jeho život opakovaně omezuje (opakují se pořád tytéž situace neúspěchu, neporozumění, pacient znovu a znovu uvízne v nesrozumitelných, trýznivých vztazích, atp..).
Není to něco neobvyklého: každý z nás jsme ovlivňování hluboce zakořeněnými nevědomými archaickými vztahy a konflikty; všichni lidé mají nějaké rodiče, nějaké dětství, nějaké vzpomínky, klíčové zážitky, které určují jejich následné jedinečné vztahování se k sobě i k druhým lidem. K tomu, aby se člověk k takovýmto skrytým zážitkům dostal a mohl je šetrně a zevrubně zpracovat, slouží pravidelná, dlouhodobá a neinvazivní psychoanalytická práce.
Psychoanalýza může pomoci pacientovi ulevit si od života v začarovaném kruhu a žít bohatší a kvalitnější život.
Freudovým zásadním vkladem do snahy porozumět mentálnímu životu byla zdánlivě obyčejná věc: vyzval pacienta, aby volně povídal, zatímco on (Freud) bude poslouchat. Ostatně, na tom se dodnes nic nezměnilo a technicky vzato, takto vypadá i dnešní psychoanalýza. Psychoanalytik má za úkol nejen pozorně naslouchat pacientovi, ale rovněž snažit se porozumět emocionálnímu konfliktu ležícímu na pozadí verbální i neverbální komunikace pacienta. Když analytik vyslovuje svá porozumění pacientovi formou interpretací, pomáhá mu dosáhnout náhledu do pacientových emočních stavů, což může zprostředkovat kýžený zážitek úlevy a obohacení pacientova osobního a intelektuálního života. Byť by to mohlo vypadat docela jednoduše, jedná se o složitý těžký proces vyžadující značnou výdrž a pozornost jak pacienta, tak analytika. Oba účastníci zažívají během psychoanalýzy velmi silné emoce a úzkosti, aby se jim mohli následně pozorně a opatrně věnovat a znovu a znovu je propracovávat.
Psychoanalýza je v mnohém odlišná od psychiatrie a jiných psychoterapeutických forem léčby. Nepoužívá se při ní behaviorálních technik (nácviky, plnění úkolů, atp.), psychoanalytik nepředepisuje pacientovi léky. Patrně nejbližší psychoanalýze je psychoanalytická psychoterapie, která není tak časově náročná, v psychoterapii pacient pracuje 1-3x týdně. Psychoanalýza obnáší docházení u nás většinou 4x, někdy i 5x týdně. Někteří psychoanalytici praktikují psychoterapii, jiní se věnují pouze psychoanalýze.
Lidé vyhledávají psychoanalýzu v různých obdobích jejich života a jejich problémy jsou různorodé. Někdy jsou důvody zřetelnější (člověk je plný nejrůznějších strachů, prožívá hluboké zoufalství, apod.), jinde jde o širší pocit bezmoci či nespokojenosti v profesním, partnerském či sexuálním životě. Jiný zase nedokáže vybřednout z pocitů bezvýchodnosti
a nesmyslnosti vlastního (třebas navenek úspěšného) života. Léčba je dlouhá a vyžaduje dobrou shodu psychoanalytika a pacienta na společné náročné práci s velmi pravděpodobně mnohými nečekanými úskalími. Tedy žádná „rychlovka“, žádný zázračný instantní zážitek: když se domlouváme na spolupráci, vždy v horizontu let. Výjimky potvrzují pravidlo: pacient přichází někdy s takovým povědomím o fungování své psychiky, že profituje z doslova pár setkání.
Třebaže je v našich podmínkách psychoanalýza plně hrazena zdravotní pojišťovnou naprosto ojediněle, jako klinický nástroj patří do rukou lékaře-psychiatra anebo klinického psychologa a vyhovuje podmínkám poskytování zdravotní péče (tedy ve zdravotnickém zařízení). Postavení nejen psychoanalýzy odráží situaci současného systému úhrad poskytovaných zdravotními pojišťovnami: limity úhrad jsou stanovovány na základě průběžně se měnících legislativních a ekonomických ukazatelů. Česká psychoanalytická společnost nestanovuje výši odměny za jednu analytickou hodinu, dá se říci, že její průměr se pohybuje někde kolem 800,- Kč.
